The "war"

So, I just wanted to write about something that really bothers me... I was watching the View this morning and they were arguing about the fact men and women are at war with poorly armored everything. And it seems to me as though they were implying that maybe we shouldn't be at war with Iraq. And as "against Bush" parties would now banter "we should pull the troupes out".

My response to all of that crap: Let's go back to 9/18/2001. Yes, a week after the tragic 9/11/2001. Majority of the country, Democrats and Republicans alike, including normal people all the way to politicians were violently angry with Iraq and everyone who claimed to be Muslim I'm sure. "Let's go to war" they cried, with blood-lust in their eyes. Revenge! Revenge for our great country. We waved our flags high and vowed no man would ever bring the USA under! OH WAIT! But now when we realize perhaps war isn't so peachy... "We should never have gone to war!" Or even better yet, "I never thought we ought to go to war in the first place." I have two words for that. And they begin with B and S. That is the most frustrating thing to me. Fine, perhaps we shouldn't be there, but America was dead set on sending us there initially.

Just my thoughts. Not worth much I know.

Democrats and Republicans alike, including normal people all the way to politicians were violently angry with Iraq and everyone who claimed to be Muslim-- er. no. maybe certain Republicans. But I know that any right minded person were angry with Terrorists. Not Muslims. Not Iraqis. Terrorists. That's why we had "The War on Terrorism" before we had "The War on Iraq". The whole Iraq thing didn't appear until later. We wanted "The War on Terrorism". It was when we were prompted with Iraq when we turned anti.

Erm. My mother (a conservative, like the rest of my family) is just now saying that we should pull out and shouldn't have ever gone. My father thinks that we need to start doing something new that will at least bring progress.

Yet, my father thinks it would be a good idea if we bombed every Mosque in Iraq and America. Yeah, I'm ashamed of being related to him too. :(

Politics is such a bad subject. :(

eh. Mind my grammar. And I really like how your comments page looks, good job :).
Thanks :) It's fun. :)
Politics are stupid. Just like religion. Regardless, there were many people who targeted Muslims - that the Islamic religion was in error. I'm not saying it is, but I'm saying there were too many Americans who believe that. In fact there are too many Americans who believe Christians are extreme bible thumping morons (another incorrect mindset). But, it seems maybe you have forgotten the rage exactly one week after the 9/11 attack. Everyone wanted revenge. And anyone who challenged that thinking was scoffed at or frowned upon. But then again, it is difficult for some to remember that rage when they would rather bicker about Bush. Whatever. Just opinions.
Yes there were those idiots who went around attacking and provoking Muslims (and in some cases Hinduists/Buddhists because they were different and some people are just really really stupid), but we were not even suspecting Iraq a week after 9/11. That was quite a time after 9/11 that we started to say "OOOH. Iraq. Boom!".

And everyone I think forgets that rage, but in the process of going through things like 9/11 or any traumatic event like that, you're supposed to feel rage. The steps are something like shock, then anger, then quesitoning and then it just keeps going until you get to moving on. And I think we eventually moved on. We didn't forget though.

Yeah, just opinions.
Are you really supposed to feel rage if you didn't lose anyone in the attack? Because though it seems like a massive slaughter, it wasn't. More children (alone) die in Africa daily than the people who lost their lives in 9/11. Nevertheless, you obviously weren't in Ohio or Indiana to experience the common rage of at least 80% of people who proclaimed war the day after the 9/11 attack.

I guess I would hope grief would also be one of the steps of mourning. And not just for ourselves but for the attackers. Alas, this is the pagan United States.
The U.S. government uses our tax dollars to bankroll occupations in Iraq, Palestine and Afghanistan, threaten military intervention against Iran and Syria, support right-wing regimes in countries that include Colombia and Haiti, and overthrow the governments of Venezuela and Cuba. The hundreds of billions of dollars our government spends on war and occupation could instead fund affordable health care, housing, education, social security, public transportation and a host of other social and economic needs at right here at home.

It occurs to me that nothing could play into al Qaeda's hands better than a protracted U. S. military engagement in Iraq. The "insurgents" are flocking there to keep us there, so that others will be free to attack us elsewhere. Not only is Iraq a distraction from our higher priorities, but al Qaeda is now doing all it can do to keep us in Iraq for the foreseeable future, to degrade and weaken our military as much as possible. As usual, it's a brilliant strategy from our enemy, and total idiocy from our leadership. Perhaps a nuclear bomb going off in L. A. will teach us a lesson. Who knows what terrorists are doing what where throughout the Globe right now? I don't, because all I see on my television is Iraq, and a Bush Administration that refuses to admit its error.

At some point, probably soon, an admission will no longer be necessary, as its error will become obvious to all in a most unpleasant way, I fear.
Yeah, I agree. Interesting isn't it? We are our own demise. I think this would be the same regardless of who was running the admin, sadly. Along the lines of my comment above, politics rule us. Part of the reason America believes it can solve the world's problems. Part of the reason we went after Saddam. ((And usually I don't care about politics, but it just irritates me when people who were enraged about the original attack on us are now saying, Oh... well... I never was angry enough to really want war." Whatever.))
I like a woman who stands her ground in beliefs...keep it up, I bet you inspire people with every serious conversation and you don't even see it sometimes.
I believe my friends at school would say I'd argue anything until the death if I feel passionately about - even if I'm completely wrong - or completely clueless. And lately I'm completely clueless for some reason which I'm still trying to figure out. I've been looking at your journal a little - and I really enjoy your honesty by the way. I love people who struggle with God and His reality and our relation to Him and His reality.
Thank you...I don't find many who actually care for half the things I say in my journal. The only time people will read is if I am covering an interesting topic they see on the news all the time, but I go to mention something from the bible and they are like "Huh duhhh". Or usually the same when I write about philosophy or poetry and science. If I'll say one thing in this moment it will definitely be that sin is not God's greatest test of man...I've conjured my own conclusion that it has got to be Logic. What better way to test the faith of His children then to create a concept which stands against His existence. If a personal can be faced with all the science in the world and still hold firm ground in faith then I feel they have passed the test and sin is more of a subtest.
I was checking out your grad pics by the way...you have the kind of look about you that instantly makes a person want to cuddle lol (dont take that the wrong way, you just seem like a romantic at heart instead of the typical person, you're all about the deeper meaning in things no matter the size)
Well, you know I've never quite had anyone say that, "you have the kind of look about you that instantly makes a person want to cuddle"... wish that reaction happened more :) Ha. Mmm someday. Anyways, thanks? BTW I tried checking out your website, and it doesn't work?
the website is dead, but I did move all the stuff to this host site...it is just a collection of old poems and some new ones. and an older picture.

Hey friend :) I'm calling you today sometime. We're going to try to get together ASAP! The girls that is.... you do horseback riding on Wednesdays right? Hmm... let me know.

Anyways, yeah I feel like these opinions might be the same of many people "our age" collectively. You are such a smart cookie - voice your intelligence :)

Re: oops

When will you be back?
*applause*

I'm so sick of this hypocricy, and the willful stupidity. "Don't kill the childrens!" "Leave the terrorists alone and they'll leave us alone." I could sprain my eyes with all the rolling.
